Sustainable building materials and collaborative climate action

Mud diggers. Methane destroyers.
Ceramics manufacturers.

It’s an unlikely combination that started with two big problems.

For decades, clay sediment has piled up in Paonia Reservoir on Colorado’s Western Slope, resulting in decreased capacity and water supply concerns for farmers and ranchers in the North Fork Valley. Just a few miles from the reservoir, local coal mines are seeking solutions to reduce venting of waste methane gas, a harmful climate pollutant.

Delta Brick & Climate Company is manufacturing building materials from reservoir mud and working toward coal mine methane capture to power our kilns and factory. Our goals are to reduce sediment accumulation and methane emissions while creating beautiful, durable building materials for homes and businesses.

Climate Projects

Switchback Project

In partnership with Switchback Restoration, Delta Brick & Climate Company purchased an abandoned coal mine property near Paonia, Colorado in order to capture fugitive methane leaking from the site. The property also has potential to serve as our future ceramics manufacturing location, as well as a community energy resource.

Coal Basin Methane Project

In an abandoned mine area known as Coal Basin, methane leaks at an estimated 220 kilograms per hour. We’re collaborating with nonprofits, environmental organizations, county officials and local businesses to try and keep this harmful greenhouse gas out of the atmosphere.

Water Production

Water Production

Methane is a hydrocarbon. When it’s burned, it releases CO2 and H2O. By attaching a heat exchanger to the exhaust stack of an electric generator powered by waste methane, we can cool and condense steam to make water.
